MGB HQ
Project Description
The MGB headquarters in Hyderabad redefines conventional office design by embracing a climate-responsive approach. Instead of conforming to the sealed-off glass box model typical of modern offices, the building incorporates a perforated screen system that regulates heat, encourages ventilation, and fosters a closer connection to the outdoors.
The west-facing facade, prone to intense sunlight, is strategically designed with staircases and service areas to reduce heat gain. Meanwhile, the south-facing facade, visible from the street, features playful yellow-orange metal screens with 8mm perforations, offering both shade and visual identity. These screens, supported by a metal frame, blur the boundaries between interior and exterior, contributing to passive cooling while creating a vibrant presence for the kindergarten across the street.
Each floor, including executive spaces on the fourth level, provides access to balconies adorned with low-maintenance plants, promoting cross-ventilation and reducing reliance on air conditioning. Niches within the staircase areas serve as informal gathering spots, enhancing workplace interaction. Through thoughtful materiality and design, MGB headquarters stands as a model for sustainable, climate-conscious architecture, challenging the dominance of glass-clad office structures in Hyderabad.
