Project Description

Set against the lush backdrop of Tanur, Kerala, House XO reimagines contemporary urban living through an industrial yet tropical lens. Designed and completed within a remarkable three-month timeframe, the residence masterfully balances clean lines, exposed steel beams, and large glass windows with the surrounding natural beauty. Despite a compact 6.5-cent plot and the challenge of conserving six mature mango trees, the design efficiently accommodates three parking spaces while preserving green cover. The concrete-and-metal façade, marked by a striking circular motif, asserts a bold visual identity without overpowering the serene, landscaped patio and lawn. Inside, high ceilings, an open-plan layout, and minimalist interiors amplify light, airiness, and a seamless flow between the living, dining, and kitchen spaces—enhancing the connection to nature while embodying modern sophistication.

XO’s construction approach reflects both innovation and the client’s professional roots in the steel trading business. I-section and C-section beams were celebrated structurally and aesthetically, while concrete use was minimized to speed up construction and reduce curing time. Deck sheet roofing offered durability and thermal insulation, and lightweight fly ash bricks, crafted from recycled materials, further streamlined the build. Every decision—from material choices to spatial planning—was rooted in sustainability, speed, and style. House XO stands as a testament to architectural ingenuity, proving that even within tight timeframes and constraints, bold vision and thoughtful execution can create homes that are both enduring and inspiring.
