Rumah Hutan
Project Description
Inspired by the lush tropical landscapes of Bali, this villa in Siolim, Goa, offers a tranquil retreat surrounded by dense greenery. Developed for Riyaz Somani, the property is part of the luxurious Rumah Hutan series, which aptly translates to ‘forest home’ in Bahasa. Instead of a conventional structure, the villa features a series of interconnected glass-walled pavilions, each providing a seamless connection to the outdoors. Open-to-sky corridors link the spaces, enhancing the immersive experience of nature while allowing natural light and ventilation to flow freely.
The focal point of the villa is a large, serene pool that extends across the property, reflecting the surrounding foliage and creating a sense of calm. Every pavilion offers unobstructed views of the water, complemented by a grey shingled-roof gazebo. The steel and timber construction lends the villa a light, airy feel, with the roofs appearing to float above the landscape. Interiors embrace quiet luxury with neutral terrazzo flooring, exposed timber rafters, and elegantly crafted furniture inspired by Balinese design. Adding to the indulgent experience, the en-suite bathrooms feature lotus ponds, imported stone tubs, and outdoor showers, further enhancing the connection to nature. This villa truly exemplifies tropical sophistication, offering a sanctuary of refined comfort and timeless beauty.
