Project Description

A Slice of the Golden State in Belgaum - Bathed in the spirit of the West Coast, this 3,500 sq.ft. Belgaum residence reimagines the breezy sophistication of California within the quiet rhythm of Indian life. Designed for a young couple who returned from the United States seeking to slow down and settle into a more grounded pace, the home embodies what one might call Cali Chic—a relaxed, sunlit aesthetic infused with organic warmth. Its design language draws from the coastal charm of America’s Golden State, yet feels entirely rooted in its Indian context, blending comfort, craft, and contemporary elegance.

A neutral palette of browns, beiges, whites, and soft blues forms the canvas, accented by muted tones of mustard, olive, and black. Natural materials—wood, linen, jute, and rattan—breathe texture into every corner, while lush greenery peeks through wide windows, softening the geometry of modern design. The living room, airy and expansive, unfolds beneath wooden rafters, with bohemian furnishings and handcrafted decor setting a relaxed tone. Concrete-hued tiles underfoot and sunlight cascading across woven textures create an atmosphere that is effortlessly calm yet deeply curated. The dining area continues this narrative—anchored by a nine-foot natural wood table surrounded by rustic leather and spindle-back chairs beneath burnished black chandeliers. A curved alcove clad in glossy subway tiles offers a hint of glamour, breaking the visual monotony with an elegant gleam.

The kitchen, bathed in a country-blue hue, channels the charm of a Californian coastal home. An eight-foot window floods the space with daylight, illuminating a central island lined with rattan bar chairs and flanked by seamless cabinetry that conceals function behind graceful form. Bedrooms echo the same restraint and authenticity—muted tones, tactile fabrics, and handcrafted accents evoke a sense of quiet luxury. The master suite, with its warm wooden tones and frosted glass partitions, feels both timeless and intimate. Every object, from art to upholstery, speaks a language of ease, intention, and lived warmth.

In essence, this Belgaum home is more than a style statement—it is a mood, a memory, and a state of mind. A space where light, texture, and tranquility converge, celebrating the soulful simplicity of California while embracing the intimacy of Indian living. It’s a home that doesn’t just look beautiful—it feels like an exhale.
